It also tells about her trying to help other women that are in the same situation as she was. Her husband, assuming this book is accurate, was a real son-of-a-b!tch who treated Betty and her daughter horribly in a multicultural situation of domestic violence and isolation. If i am remember corectly she spoke also about a case between hustband and wife one was from Germany one from USAThis was an interesting sequel to Not Without My Daughter, but was more about other abduction cases rather than what happens to Betty and Mahtob after they return. My sympathy however with the husband left me when I saw the deception he displayed keeping his American family in Iran. She was careful to keep the issue of parent's not being able to see their children central to the book and the stories, regardless of which parent took the children or which country they went to. Iris is broke after her divorce and takes a job working as a housekeeper for a wealthy woman named Paula. It's tough at first.

It did not leave me with a negative image of Iranians, Islam or Persia at all. Of almost 300 pages of text, less than 100 were about her life after arriving at the Turkish embassy.
