Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Burton and Jeannette Kaiser, his son, Derrick Burton, and his brother-in-law, David Somero. Mike was born May 30, 1956 in Dayton to the late William & Eleace (Collins) Burton.

Michael Edward Burton, 53 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away suddenly on Monday, March 9, 2020 at North Kansas City Hospital in NKC, Missouri. James Michael Burton “Michael”, age 45, of Portage, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020.

I knew Michael from our college days in Evanston, Illinois, at National College of Education. Mike was born October 3, 1966 to Donald and Joyce (Christy) Burton in Kansas City, Missouri. The family will be at the home of his son, Chris Burton, 5 Sweetgrass Trail, Anderson, SC 29625. They become part of the lore in the school's deep history.
