He narrates all the other audio versions of the The Fall of Hyperion picks up directly after the cliffhanger ending to Hyperion. Since FORCE fleets have been committed to the Hyperion system, the first wave of worlds threatened by the Ouster invasion seems destined to fall. In the end, it doesn’t matter a damn bit. The Consul leaves to retrieve his ship from Keats. On Hyperion, Lamia frees Silenus and destroys the Shrike through an unknown power. Shortly thereafter, Father Duré disappears. But then again, all this hearkens on the decision to end the first book just as they are about to arrive to the Time Tombs.My main other gripe, and this is more a nitpick, is that Simmons’ word choices in the first novel are unnecessarily complicated and some of the most descriptive passages suffer from needlessly obscure words that overcomplicate the imagery. It doesn’t matter a damn bit. On my list of All Time Favorites.
